Knowledge is the main raw material of today’s economy. Universities, as entities that create and transmit knowledge, have played a central role in Portugal’s development. They strengthen the country’s human potential and capacity for innovation, upon which its future depends.
CRUP and its member universities have remained attentive to change, competing and collaborating at an international level and attracting talent from practically all over the world. The CRUP member universities are very different, but this contributes to the resilience of the higher education network and enables its universities to act in a way that is adapted to the characteristics of the regions and the challenges of the environment, contributing to a more balanced and cohesive development of each region and of the country.
In the recent, we have gone through successive economic, political and public health crises. The current scenarios are complex and uncertain, both nationally and internationally. None knows what the future will bring, but I’m sure that CRUP and its member universities will continue to play an important role in the development of the country. Portugal can continue to count on us.
