Rector’s Message

“The University of Lisbon seeks the best solutions for today’s problems but also for those in the future, in a work that involves the entire academic community. To go beyond trivial solutions, seeking coherence, durability and consistency in our response.

We have the fundamental mission of educating future generations, granting skills and contributing to the civic maturity of our students through the development of knowledge and citizenship values. Therefore, we will do everything to make the University of Lisbon a hub of strategic thinking in Portugal and in the world.

Today, as always, the University of Lisbon will continue to contribute to the development of a fairer, more open Portugal, prouder of itself and better able to play an active role in the world, to be able to help the State, the Economy and businesses to solve their problems and, above all, to stimulate a will to transform every man and woman in order to create a fairer country, with greater and better opportunities for its citizens. In fulfilling its mission, the University of Lisbon will continue to embody its motto: University of Lisbon. From Lisbon to the World.”
